Thomas J. McDonald is a senior project manager for TDI-Brooks International. He is highly experienced in the identification and quantitation of volatile and semi-volatile organic contaminants by Low Resolution Mass Spectrometry (LRMS) and Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detection (GC/FID). McDonald currently specializes in petroleum biological marker identification and quantitation for use in bioremediation studies. He has vast experience with all aspects of environmental and geochemical sample handling for trace organic analyses, including sample receipt, sample processing and extraction, extract analysis and final data reporting. McDonald received his doctorate in chemical oceanography from Texas A&M University in 1988. He currently holds an associate professor position in the Texas A&M Health Science Center at Texas A&M and has over 15 years of graduate academia experience. McDonald has served as PI or Co-PI on projects for the National Institute of Health, the Minerals Management Service, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He has over 55 publications, including 11 book chapters, and is a member of the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi honor society.
