DP2 VESSEL – “NEW TO THE FLEET”

DAYLIGHT ONLY VESSEL

The R/V Brooks McCall, R/V Miss Emma McCall, and OSV Marcelle Bordelon, all American-registered, comply fully with the Jones Act, operating mainly in the Gulf of Mexico, along the US East Coast, and in Mexico. The R/V Proteus, R/V Gyre, and R/V Nautilus are Vanuatu-registered and adhere to SOLAS regulations, serving primarily in the Mediterranean, North/West Africa, Mexico, and Northern South America.

The DP2 vessel, Nautilus, sets a new benchmark in our fleet, being equipped with an exhaustive geotechnical tool kit for sophisticated soil sampling and measurement. The vessel houses a hull-mounted Kongsberg EM-710 (1x1) multibeam echo-sounder system (MBES), offering us the ability to map depths of up to ~2,500 meters. This blend of innovative tools and capabilities allows us to undertake detailed and precise underwater studies.

To ensure seamless communication, TDI-Brooks has incorporated the StarLink Maritime platform across all vessels, reinforced with redundant VSAT capabilities. Our emphasis on stringent safety is reflected in our robust, approved Safety Management System, prioritizing crew and client safety above all else. This commitment is further reinforced by regular vessel assessments from client marine assurance groups and inclusion in the OCIMF Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID).

With a proven track record and exceptional capabilities, TDI-Brooks remains a preferred choice for fulfilling oceanographic research needs.

Directions to Vessel Launch

FREEPORT, TEXAS

From Hobby or George Bush Airports:

Go south on I-45 to Beltway 8 (south of Houston). Go west on the beltway to Hwy 288.

From Houston:

Take 288 south to Freeport.

Stay on 288 all the way past Dow Chemical into the town. Watch the intersection of 288, 288B and 332. If you come from Angleton (288B) you just go straight ahead. If coming from Lake Jackson on 288 stay left. The left lane goes right (288) and the right lane goes left to 332 (opposite of what you would think).

When you get to the high school (on your left, stadium on right) take a left at the light on to Second Street. Stay on it to the end. Watch out for the traffic light in the middle of downtown, it is on a pole on the side of the road and it is easily missed.

Second street looks like it ends at the Sulfur warehouse but it bends left and then goes over a levee that you can’t see over. Go ahead and take the road over the levee to the end. When on the levee you can see some tanks in the distance. Stanco is through the gate and the vessels are docked somewhere on the short waterfront.

As the dock is a secure area, visitors must sign in and out in order to get thru the gate and on the facility.
