Joins Gas Hydrate Research Program at Texas A&M University
TDI-Brooks joined in June 2001 the Gas Hydrate Research Program
at Texas A&M University directed by Dr. Yuri Makogon.
Research is targeted towards (1) thoroughly investigating
processes of hydrate formation and dissociation in pore space,
(2) measuring natural gas and CO2 solubility in seawater,
and (3) understanding the formation, stability and dissociation
of gas hydrate deposits under actual geological conditions.
The research program expects this research to lead to (1)
technology for drilling and production of gas from gas hydrate
deposits, and for transportation and storage of gas in a hydrate
state, (2) determining in different real conditions what thermodynamic
and kinetic inhibitors should be used to prevent the formation
of hydrates and hydrate plugs, and (3) developing technology
for removal of solid hydrate plugs from pipelines and wells.
