TDI-Brooks
to acquire shares in GSI Brasil
Geochemical Solutions International Brasil Ltda. (GSI Brasil),
an energy consultancy with offices in Rio de Janeiro, will
sell an undisclosed number of shares to TDI-Brooks International,
Inc (TDI-Brooks). a U.S. based research and service company.
The exact terms are still under negotiation, but the sale
is expected to be finalized before the end of the year.
Since incorporation in 1999, GSI Brasil has been pivotal
in allowing its parent company, Geochemical Solutions International,
Inc. (GSI), to attain a significant market presence conducting
non-exclusive, multi-client projects in support of hydrocarbon
exploration in Brazil. As one of the first companies authorized
by the Agencia Nacional do Petroleo (ANP) to collect non-exclusive
data on Brazilian basins, GSI has compiled a portfolio of
over 30 projects in diverse technical areas such as surface
geochemistry (offshore piston coring and soil gas surveys),
remote sensing, basin modeling, oil and source rock studies
and oil quality prediction. GSI Brasil has also provided its
services on a proprietary basis for many of the energy companies
presently operating in Brasil, including Petrobras. GSI Brasil
is wholly-owned by GSI, a U.S. corporation with offices in
The Woodlands, Texas. In addition to Brazil, GSI also has
projects in Argentina, Cuba and Trinidad.
TDI-Brooks is a U.S. corporation established in 1996 that
provides scientific services on a global basis with a focus
on petroleum geochemistry, surface geochemical exploration,
oil spill response, oceanographic surveys, environmental chemistry,
and multi-disciplinary environmental assessments. Based in
College Station, Texas, their clients include most major oil
and gas companies, as well as numerous government agencies.
TDI-Brooks owns and operates three marine research vessels,
has a state-of-the-art laboratory facility in College Station,
Texas, and directs an accomplished staff with a broad range
of expertise in geochemistry and environmental chemistry,
as well as in chemical, biological, geological and physical
oceanography. In addition to the United States, TDI-Brooks
has extensive international project experience in Africa,
Latin America, Canada and the Mediterranean region.
"We are pleased to be associated with GSI and to bring
TDI-Brooks' services to the Brazilian market through GSI Brasil.
For us, Brazil contains significant business opportunities
both in the energy sector as well as in the environmental
area." says Dr. James Brooks, President of TDI-Brooks.
"TDI is acknowledged as the world-leader in offshore
surface geochemical exploration." explains Craig Schiefelbein,
President of GSI. "Their field resources and our knowledge
of Brazilian petroleum systems are highly complimentary, and
will strengthen GSI Brasil's market position as a service
provider to the offshore petroleum industry."
