TDI-Brooks
International awarded contract by the USEPA to chemically
analyze multi-media samples
TDI-Brooks International has been awarded a contract by the
USEPA to chemically analyze multi-media samples that have
been collected from six homes for the organophosphate insecticide,
diazinon, and its metabolite, diazoxon. An exposure monitoring
study was conducted in the Spring of 2001 in six homes to
examine the fate and transport of diazinon following granular
turf applications. This current research project expands upon
that study to consider pet dogs as a vehicle for the physical
translocation of diazinon residues and the potential for transfer
of residues to the human occupants following hand-to-dog contacts.
A total of 300 multi-media residential and 72 quality assurance/quality
control (QA/QC) samples were collected. The samples consist
of granular diazinon formulation, polyurethane foam (PUF)
air monitors, PUF rollers, isopropanol wipes using gauze pads,
household dust, doormat sweepings, dog fur clippings, cotton
gloves, and soil.
The contract number is RFQ-RT-03-00006 and is effective December
2002. The contract amount is $55,000.
