TDI-Brooks recently completed a series of three (3) Environmental Baseline Survey (EBS) projects in the Perdido Fold Belt in the Mexican sector of the Northern Gulf of Mexico, as follows:

BHP through AMEC Foster Wheeler – Deepwater Trion field (2 blocks) : The Trion field holds some 480 MMbbls  with the field covering about 483 sq mi (1,250 sq km) and is located under more than 8,202 ft (2,500 m) of water.

Total through Creocean – Block 2 : The block covers an area of 2,977 sq km (1,149 sq mi) in water depths ranging from 2,300-3,600 m (7,546-11,811 ft).

Chevron – Block 3 : This block covers an area of 1,687km2 where the water depth ranges between approximately 500m to 1,700m.

The projects involved components such as CTD/rosette water sampling system, box coring for sediment characterization, plankton sampling, SPI camera sediment profiling and bottom photography.

The TDI-Brooks vessel utilized for these projects was the R/V Proteus, a multi-use vessel suited for a wide variety of oceanographic research duties. The Proteus is equipped with satellite communications (voice, fax, and email), differential GPS, geophysical survey gear and large a-frames with high-speed winches for coring or geotechnical work. The Proteus is in ABS class and had an extensive technical refit in 2009 and 2014 making her suitable for extended voyages. Her current configuration allows up to 25 Guests /Scientists and 10 Crew.

TDI-Brooks International, Inc. offers a comprehensive suite of offshore geotechnical field services, including piston coring, jumbo piston coring, box coring, and the deployment of multiple CPT tools. Our vessels can also be used to accommodate some third party geotechnical equipment packages. Geotechnical and Geochemical analytical services are offered to complement our field services.
